Document Summary
Intelligence (general definition): ability to reason, understand, and do well based off of previous experience. Intelligence quotient: measurement of intelligence: developed for children, doesn"t account for different types of intelligence, is related to socioeconomic level, job performance, income and inversely related to juvenile delinquency. Other types of intelligence tests: scholastic aptitude test (sat), raven progressive matrices (mostly nonverbal, no need for knowledge about a specific culture) Types of intelligence theorists: lumpers: there is no such thing as types of intelligence, intelligence is just single thing. The general factor/g: the single capability of intelligence. General factor theorists believe that though there are different tasks a individual may do exceptionally well in, the person usually does well in other tasks as well. Causing them to justify measuring a person"s intelligence with g: splitters: intelligence is made up of different parts that are relatively independent of each other, so there is more emphasis on specific activities for individuals.
