Document Summary

Cohen chapter 1= socialism its most basic form is the fairest way for society to function. Here is the example explained in terms of a camping trip. The ideal camping trip is a trip where everybody is equal and everybody does the equal amount of labor and everybody shares their possessions. This would be a socialist camping trip whereas a capitalist camping trip would have people expecting payment or incentives to share information. The socialist camping trip is clearly the more desirable camping trip because there is no hierarchy and everybody does what they are supposed to do without complaining and everybody receives equal treatment. Cohen chapter 2: equality of opportunity, a socialist egalitarian principle. There are three kinds of equality of opportunity: 1. The bourgeois is a liberal concept and it removes all titles including race, class, etc. Left-liberal removes all social advantages no matter the class including head start education 3.
