Since 2006, 30,000 people have been murdered in mexico, 1100 were soldiers or police. It would appear that climate change does not factor into mexico"s violence. However, climate change is actually a major factor in the mexican violence. In juarez, the fishing and the agricultural industry is already being undermined by climate change. Neoliberalist policies are causing unemployment to skyrocket and people are beginning to migrate north, often into the. However, everywhere in mexico is being hit hard by climate change. Northern mexico is suffering a tremendous drought while southern mexico is suffering constant flooding. Studies estimate that 10% of mexicans will try to emigrate north because of these terrible climates. Flooding and hurricanes also attack mexico causing tremendous damage to the agricultural industries. By 2050, the global population is expected to peak at about 9 billion people while the earth"s temperature will be 2 degrees celsius hotter than it is today.
