Document Summary

Islamic gunpowder empire chapter 5 the mughal empire. Babur is the founder of the mughal empire. The mughal empire began after babur invaded northern india in 1526. Despite the fact that the mughal empire was called the mughal empire (mughal means mongol in persian), the inhabitants did not consider themselves to be mughals. The mughal landscape was mostly well watered and intensely cultivated lands that produced rice. There were also more arid areas that produced wheat and millet. This was known as the arid zone and it included most of north and southwest africa, and also the ganges. The biggest divided culturally in the mughal empire was between the muslims and the hindus, a battle the hindus slowly will lose. The mughals tried to build their over version of the tahrir-timar system, but it never comes into fruition. Most of the mughal soldiers served as officers and had their own power base that had little to do with military status.
