Module 50: anxiety disorders, ocs, and ptsd: anxiety disorders- marked by distressing, persistent anxiety or dysfunctional anxiety-reducing behaviors, generalized anxiety disorder- marked by excessive and uncontrollable worry, more common in women. Panic disorder- when anxiety escalates into a panic attack. Phobias- persistent, irrational fears that may cause people to avoid a certain object, activity, or situation. Specific phobias are related to a certain object/ fear. Social anxiety disorder is a form of extreme shyness.
