Module 53: dissociative, personality and eating disorders: dissociative disorders- when a person"s conscious awareness separates from painful memories, thoughts, and feelings. Result= fugue state- a sudden loos of memory of change in one"s identity: dissociative identity disorder (did)- a massive dissociation from oneself in which two or more distinct identities are formed usually without awareness of the other. Personality disorders- a disruptive, inflexible behavior pattern that is endured for a period of time: antisocial personality disorder- marked by a person lacking a conscience, more common in males. Eating disorders: anorexia nervosa- typically begins as a weight loss diet before there is a significant drop in weight loss. Bulimia nervosa- when a person alternates between binging and purging. Binge-eating disorder- when a period of overeating is followed by a feeling of remorse. Psychotherapy- interactions between a trained therapist and someone looking to achieve personal growth.
