Having curiosity means to have a passion to explore and understand without misleading or being misled. To think like a psychologist, have curious skepticism. The type of thinking where one does not accept a fact/information as it is. One simply finds hidden meanings, examines assumptions, evaluates evidence, and analyze conclusions. It helps clear the color from the lenses of one"s bias. Psy 101 - lecture 1 - research strategies: how psychologists ask and answer. Some might say that evolution is just a theory. Theory: an explanation that uses a set of organized principles for observations and it predicts behaviors and/or events. Example: a theory about the effects of sleep on memory helps to organize countless sleep-related observations into a short list of principles. Theories produce testable predictions, known as hypotheses. To avoid biases, psychologists report their research with precise operational definitions-- carefully worded statements of the exact operations used in the research study.
