Consumer reports issue in 1995- 4,000 readers sought treatment. 43% of these people had a very/poor emotional state at time of treatment. Results were: the treatment resulted in improvement in majority of the respondents especially for those who felt the worse. All 3 mental health professionals (psychiatrist, psychologist, and social workers) all equally effective. Those who received just psychotherapy and those who received psychotherapy with medications had the same improvement. The longer the treatment then the more improvement. Treatment carried out by 3 behavior therapist and 3 analyst. All groups have improved after 4 months, but bt and pt groups improved more than waiting list group. There was no differences in improvement between the bt and pt groups. Suggestible that bt has more versatility: meta-analysis: effect size: the mean difference btw treated and control participants scores on relevant outcome measures divided by the standard deviation of the control group.
