Terrestrials-live on the ground not in the trees. Taxonomy is the assignment of an organism to categories according to their relationship and resemblance. Homologies are similarities used to assign organisms to the same taxonomy. Opposable thumbs are a thumb that can touch all other fingers. Primate adaptations: grasping opposable thumbs humans no longer grasp with their feet after they learned to walk upright, smell to sight- primates have excellent stereoscopic (able to see in depth) and color vision. Vision area of the brain got larger while smell shrank: nose to hand- sensation of touch conveyed by tactile organs. Main touch organ is the hand, specifically sensitive pads of the fingerprint regions: brain complexity- brains memory, thought and association increased, parental investment- single births not litters learning opportunities, socially- social animals-support by a social group.
