Hormones are an organic substance that is produced by one body tissue and conveyed via bloodstream to affect some physiological function. Pituitary gland in the brain that responds to a signal from the hypothalamus by producing hormones. Adrenal glands- there are two above the kidney area that produce epinephrine and norepinephrine (adrenaline) Hpa axis (hypothalamus, pituitary and adrenal)- chain reaction of hormone production originates in hypothalamus moves to pituitary then finally the adrenal glands. Testosterone is an androgen sex hormone that males produce in greater amounts than female. 2/3 of age variation in puberty is genetic. Obese children experience puberty earlier than their peers. It increases in childhood and peaks at age 12.
