Document Summary
Unconditional stimulus- the stimulus that already elicits a response without additional learning. Unconditional response- the term for a response created by an unconditional stimulus. Conditional stimulus- the previously neutral stimulus that starts to elicit a conditional response. Conditional response- the response elicited by a conditional stimulus. Classical conditioning- the process of when a neutral stimulus becomes an active stimulus and elicits a response. Extinction- when a conditional stimulus is not followed by an unconditional stimulus, the conditional response will fade. Spontaneous recovery- the reoccurrence of a conditional response: this is why a conditional response takes more than one extinction trail to completely eliminate. High order conditioning- when a neutral stimulus becomes a conditional stimulus through association with another conditional stimulus. Stimulus generation- when similar stimuli produce a similar reaction as conditional stimuli do. Stimulus discrimination- when similar stimuli are not followed by the same conditional response as each other: when a similar cs fails to evoke a cr.
