Stress- is to view it as a process whereby an individual perceives and responds to events that he appraises as overwhelming or threatening to his well being. Stressors- is any event, experience, or environmental stimulus that causes stress in an individual. Primary appraisal- involves judgment about the degree of potential harm or threat to well-being that a stressor might entail. Secondary appraisal- the judgment of the options available to cope with a stressor, as well as perceptions of how effective such options will be. Stress can have both negative and positive connotations, Stress can motivate us to do things in our best interests, such as study for exams, visit the doctor. Eustress- good kind of stress associated with positive feelings, optimal health, and performances. Distress- bad form of dress; usually high in intensity; often leads to exhaustion, fatigue, feeling burned out; associated with erosions in performances and health.
