Document Summary

Introduction for students: strategies for succeeding as a college writer. Prioritize: decide on the urgency and importance of each assignment. Set achievable goals: make to-do lists and go from there. In general, a week is min. amount of time needed to write a passable final draft. Better to break it up into small tasks over the course of a few weeks. Procrastination happens b/c you"re either afraid of failing or you"re a perfectionist. Don"t be afraid of failure--everybody fails @ some point and it"s your job to learn from those mistakes and recover. But be careful to make sure that your rewards aren"t greater than the amount of effort you"ve actually expended. 30 min of tv does not equal 10 min of writing. Tip: schedule reward breaks into writing schedule. Say no : may have to compromise, but remember that you"ll be able to say yes to the things you really want to do later on in life.
