Communication apprehension is a fear of having communication with others. 2. 1 application - as you read in this chapter, public speaking is among people"s top fears. Most people are afraid to speak in public because they are afraid to fail. The speaker does not know how their audience might react to the subject, making them more anxious. People are constantly afraid of what others think of themselves. If people are more confident in their public speaking the audience will pay attention to what the speaker has to say. Heredity- some people are born with a chemical imbalance in their brain. This anxiety is was given to people at birth, they did not chose it. Learned apprehension- there are three apprehensions that we have learned over the years situational-based apprehension, audience-based apprehension, and context-based apprehension.
