Audience analysis - the process by which we gather and analyze information about our listeners and adapt our message to their knowledge, interests, attitudes and beliefs. Frame of reference - experiences, goals, values, attitudes, knowledge, beliefs, age, gender, culture, etc. Captive audience - people who are required to attend a speech. Voluntary audience - attends a presentation by choice. Attitudes - how your audience feels about your topic. Values - the extent to which your audience attaches worth to those beliefs. Interviewing - asking the audience things. (formal information gathering) Open question - allows the interviewee to respond in depth. Closed question - gives the interviewee a choice of options. Questionnaire - written answers to questions from your audience.
