An environment is anything outside of the system. Standard- this is an agreement that makes it possible for users on different systems, working with different hardware platforms and application software packages, to share and exchange data. Ascii- this stands for american standard code for information interchange. Was originally 7 bits, now stored as 8 bits. Ebcdic- this stands for extended binary coded decimal interchange code.
