Risk factors: obesity, women whom have had multiple pregnancies, frequent changes in weight, rapid weight loss, high-dose estrogen treatment, low-dose estrogen therapy, ileal resection/disease, cystic fibrosis, and diabetes. Choledocholithiasis -> stones in the common bile duct. Acute cholecystitis is the inflammation of the gallbladder. Calculous cholecystitis: a gallbladder stone obstructs bile outflow. Acalculous cholecystitis: inflammation occuring in the absence of gallstones, usually after major surgery, severe trauma, or burns. Repeated episodes of cystic duct obstruction result in chronic inflammation.
