Glycogen is converted back to glucose and released into the blood stream as needed. Ammonia is a by product of glucose metabolism. Liver converts this metabolically generated ammonia into urea. Fatty acids can be broken down for the production of energy and ketone bodies. Bile is continuously formed by the hepatocytes and collected in the canalicul i and bile duct.
