Document Summary

Section: 2. Group members: katherine keller, rivers romero, anwar francis. Lab topic: movement of materials in and out of cells. I certify that the writing in this assignment is my individual work and is my intellectual property. It does not contain the ideas or writing of other individuals/authors. The experimental question being tested is if the concentration of sucrose in a solution affects osmosis across a cell membrane. This is a valid question because sucrose does not cross over cell membranes, but water does. The solution will be made up of sucrose and water. This experiment is significant to science and society so that there can be a better understanding of how osmosis occurs in cells and how the intake of sucrose (sugar) affects them. Increasing the amount of sucrose in the solution will not affect the weight of the potato after being soaked in the solution.
