Two types of endocrine organs exist, primary and secondary. Has an anterior (epithelial tissue) and posterior lobe (neural tissue: posterior lobe contains neural tissue consisting of axon terminals of neurons originating in the hypothalamus. The endings in the posterior gland secrete two peptide hormones. Peptides are then packaged into secretory vesicles, which are transported to the axon terminals in the posterior pituitary. Released by exocytosis into the blood (neurohormones: adh, antidiuretic hormone: increase in plasma solute concentration (kidneys. Water balance and osmolality: ot oxytocin: pressure in the uterus of a pregnant woman and also by suckling by an infant (uterus, uterine contractions and in the breast stimulates milk letdown following childbirth) Milk ejection, parturition, love hormone: tropic hormones: anterior lobe of the pituitary gland and the cells of the hypothalamus that control it secrete these hormones, stimulating: increases the secretion of another hormone.
