EDCI 2700 Chapter : Week 5 Year Round Schooling Reference
Document Summary
Over the course of my time in public school, they shifted when we start and end school, but they never increased the school year. There was only one school in our district with year around schooling, and those kids didn"t know any different. They went to school at the very end of august, and went to the middle of december with a few breaks in between. They had a month off for winter break, then throughout the spring they had two weeks for spring break, and then a month in the summer off. Pros to this situation are that the students have longer breaks throughout the year, instead of one huge break, which can keep students from forgetting everything they"ve learned. It helps working parents spread out daycare expenses, and can keep kids out of trouble, because there"s less time to get bored and start causing trouble. Cons of a year around school are more financial.
