Document Summary
This experiment will introduce you to the design of a controller circuit used to control 3 shift registers. The controller will be used to make the shift register transfer data between themselves, in both parallel and serial forms. A shift register is a special kind of register that allow the user to shift the contents of its internal flip-flops either left or right by a single position every tick of the clock. This action is very useful whenever one want to change information received in parallel format to serial format and vice- versa. Shown below is the block diagram for the circuit you are designing. The controller has an input called start/stop used to control the process. If start/stop = 1 then the controller allows data processing by the shift registers, and if start/stop = 0, then data processing is stopped.
