Document Summary

9/1/11 (never aske for certain dates on tests just have a mental timeline of events) The scientific transformation i the medieval agricultural revolution. In europe, the country wasn"t nearly as prosperous as the middle east or china. Less developed, more agricultural, few towns, very limited food surplus, and bad climate (rained a lot, cold), forests (used for grazing pigs or making charcoal), few open meadows (for sheep and cattle) Villages were the entire focus of their lives (scattered huts, much poverty and isolation) forests surrounding villages kept them somewhat safe. Few good places in europe were overly populated. People lived in/near generally in massive defensive structures for security. Europe was opposite (pretty much of middle east) Europe had always been divided between core (mention in beginning) and marginal areas. Marginal areas: alps, scandonavia, parts of eastern europe, switzerland, northern. With new ways of agriculture, the new land brought out cultivation therefore extending out area.
