They demanded more ports and stripped the dynasty of the manchus of their power. The foreign powers controlling most of the ports also changed the (economic?) network of china. They were originally market towns and began to grow at a faster rate than the interior market towns. 1911, last emperor, qee, of manchu dynasty was overthrown by officers known as nationalists. Sent into exhile and new leader sun yat-sen established the republic of china.
