Document Summary

Lab 2: measurements of mass, length, and time. The purpose of today s lab is to become family with hands-on tools for taking basic measurements. In this lab we will measure using the metric system, and we use the different equipment for measurements, such as a meterstick, a digital caliper, and triple-beam balance. This lab provided the context for the mathematical skills used in the last lab. Procedure: use the short (1m) meterstick to measure the length and width of the lab table. Record five measurements and their uncertainties: use a long (1. 5 m) meterstick, and report step 1, use the digital caliper to measure the dimensions of the plastic object. Measure the length, width, and thickness and record the data: use the triple-beam balance and take five measurements of the mass of the plastic objects, with uncertainties.
