Tried to redo the treatment of psychological disorders. Aimed to treat the person, not just the disorder. Eclectic approach- client/patient comes in and fills you in with what is going on. And as the therapist, you pick which method is most suitable to treat the patient. Psychotherapies- any type of therapy that intends to help mental state. Freud would say how a person is resisting something, because it is causing you anxiety. When freud when notice resistance, he would interpret as to why there was this resistance. Then freud would allow you to transfer your emotion and anxiety onto him as therapist. Freud is wrong because he isn"t interpreting it right. He is making the patient fall for suggestibility. Freud set up a model for interpretation. The importance of the session is on e therapist for interpreting what is going on. Present and future are much more important.
