Making positive relationships with students can help you teach students anything. If positive relationships aren"t made, students won"t listen, and they won"t learn. Students don"t learn from teachers they don"t like. We need to be champions for our students. Interactions give us a feel for a place, and through these feelings we realize who our allies and champions are. Passion and sense of humor help forge positive relationships with students. Students also recognize the importance of interactions as well. Students generally felt their schooling to be disconnected from their lives and interests. But every student was able to identify and describe a relationship with a teacher that was meaningful to them.
