Why does social class influence parent involvement in schooling. Classroom volunteers only appeared within recent decades. Tutors, learning centers, and private testing are relatively new. There is only one commonly requested type of parental volunteer. High level of parent involvement is viewed as a sign of support. Interviews at home did not reflect that parents participating in school meant they placed a high value on education. Many parents place high value of education but the level of education varies. Prescotts parents educational goals were differenent and higher than the goals of. This is evidence of teachers treating kids differently due to social class. Social class tends to affect the college track of students. There does not seem to be a direct correlation in student ability on tests and social class. Both schools encouraged the same amount of parent involvement and got completely different results. Some teachers are more comfortable and more interested in working with parents.
