Document Summary

I found the apocalypse of saint paul to be incredibly interesting: probably the most interesting thing i have read all semester. It was very intriguing because it is not a part of the canonical new testament, but it is so similar to a lot of those writings. The text is also quite similar to dante"s divine comedy with its many levels of heaven and hell and different rewards and punishments. Instead, our misdeeds as well as our goodness will be weighed, and we will be rewarded or punished accordingly. In addition, although some of the punishments may seem harsh, god is not a vindictive or hateful god. He has given us ample time to repent, and he is fair in his judgment. Often times, when we speak or learn about god"s judgment or punishment, we think that it is excessively cruel and that most people should be saved.
