Pastoral symphony: speaks especially to venice, which was very focused on the arts and less on science and discovery. 22-37 titian - madonna of the pesaro family: the focus is off center, the whole push of the painting is a very strong diagonal. The bishop was a military leader in this piece. The ag is a strong counterpoint to the diagonal. 22-39 titian - the venus of urbino: a lapdog instead of cupid, so not really a venus. probably a painting for a private chamber, more an italian woman depicted. 22-41 titian ( nished by giovane) - pieta: the man in the red robe is titian, very close to jesus, actually touching hands. much more textured, heavier use of paint, broken brush strokes. 22-40 titan - isabella d"este: most in uential patron of her day. commissioned when she was 16 but asked to be painted in her 20s. very patterned sleeves focus on hands. for midterm:!
