Evolutionary psychology epigenetics - study of factors that affect gene expression without making any changes in the nucleotide sequence of the genes themselves. Gene expression neuroeconomics - study of brain mechanisms at work during economic decision making. Many of the traditional and emerging topics in biological psychology converge on the problem of consciousness. Careful research design is crucial for brain research. Biological psychologists use three general types of studies for research on the biological bases of behavior somatic intervention - manipulates body structure or function and looks for resultant changes in behavior.
