Useful in justifying a program or a training method. Tests chosen should be specific to the sport and to the population being tested. Need to be able to interpret the findings of the test. Validity: test what it supposes to test, compared to gold standard ex: if you have a fracture, an x-ray is a golden standard to see if so, leg strength- squat, leg power- vertical jump, speed- sprint (40m dash) The test to arrive at or near the same score upon repeated measurement in absence of any intervention strategy. Completed 48 to 72 hours- to really ned to see if this test is reliable it needs to be valid and reliable to really show if there is consistent results. Intraclass correlation coefficient (icc)- *after we have our gold standard we want to see a positive correlation and a similar relationship for the 2 test.
