It is bc of the muses that there is art and song on the earth. The daughters of zeus (the muses) teach hesiod a song. They ask him to always sing of them 1st and last in a performance. The earth and sky had many sons, all of which sky (ouranos) hated, and hid. Earth asked her children to take revenge on sky and kronos agreed. From the castration, earth got pregnant again. Sky"s balls were cast into a sea and from them aphrodite was born. Descendants of ouranos: children of rhea and kronos. They birthed hestia, demeter, hera, hades, poseidon, zeus, Kronos tried to eat all his kids bc it was fated that one of them would overcome him. Rhea birthed zeus in secret (in crete) so kronos wouldn"t eat him. Rhea gave kronos a stone as a baby and he ate it. After zeus had grown up he made kronos throw up all his siblings.
