Society: a group of ppl who live in a definable community and share the same culture. Hunter-gatherer: societies that depend on hunting wild animals and gathering uncultivated plants for survival. They relied on the environment for their survival. Pastoral societies: societies based around the domestication of animals. Able to breed livestock for food, clothing, and transportation. Were also nomadic so their livestock could keep eating/grazing. Horticultural societies: societies based around the cultivation of plants. Largely depend on environment for survival, but were able to start permanent settlements. Agricultural societies: societies that rely on farming as a way of life. Human settlements were able to grow into towns & cities. Leisurely activities were able to be done more often. Social class divisions became more apparent bc some ppl had more resources than others. Feudal societies: societies that operate on a strict hierarchical system of power based around land ownership and protection.
