Explicitly: ideas clearly expressed ex: teachers taught you many things you need to know to be a productive member of society. Implicitly: ideas not clearly expressed ex: obedience to authority, respect for social hierarchy. Culture uses symbols: symbols-something that conventionally stands for something else through which people make sense of the world. Things that people in a given culture associate with something else, some intangible, such as motherhood, family, god , etc.
