Lava - lava is any magma that reaches the actual surface of the earth. Melt - this term refers to the liquid portion of magma the excludes the solid crystals. Volatiles - are components composed of gaseous magma that is dissolved in the melt. Volatiles will readily vaporize and form a gas at surface pressure. Crystallization - this occurs after the formation and growth of a crystalline solid from either a liquid or gas. Intrusive igneous rock - this is igneous rock that forms below the surface of the earth. Extrusive igneous rock - this refers to any igneous rock formations that occur at the surface of the earth.
