Involuntary - sympathetic: (prepare body for action) - fight or flight (really stressed, emotional reaction) Somatic: voluntary muscles(movement, balance) and sense organs( heat, cold, pressure, etc) Neurons are cells of the nervous system that receive information and transmit it to other cells by conducting electrochemical impulses (communication nerve cells) Sensory neurons: information from senses, central nervous system. Motor neurons: information from cns (muscle, glands) Cell body contains the nucleus of the cell; produces energy that fuels the neuron"s activity. Dendrites (roots)- thin fibers, are widely branching structure that receive input from other neurons; receive information from other neurons, passes message to the body.
