PSY 145 Chapter Notes - Chapter 6: Human Security, Psych, Natural Disaster
Document Summary
Current imperatives on human security: the world is entering a new age in which the very concept of security will shift and change drastically. A new perspective is about to change, too. Human security should be seen as basic, national, and indivisible. And not the terrible outcome of their suffering. Those consequences fly without a visa and in uncomfortable ways. Narcotics, hiv, pollution and terrorism are now stopping at every national frontier. They can strike with devastating speed, at any corner of the world. When people fly they bring a lot of dynamism and creativity with them. But many of the most dramatic developments in human culture have arisen from catastrophes from war, economic recession, natural disaster. Although great religions also move the human spirit by the divine essence of their messages, their messages also contain fear of imminent retribution. Human security can also serve as the foundation of a new human world order.
