To start off the summary some essential vocabulary will be listed in order to get a full and thorough understanding of the material presented. A record contains information about a given person, product or event. A field contains a specific piece of information within a record. A unique identifier is used to uniquely identify each record in the database. Database properties are standard properties, microsoft documents, author, title, etc. Compacting means the wasted space from the database is removed. In order to name tables and fields one must follow four guidelines. The first guidelines states that names can be up to 64 characters in length. Second also mentions that names can contain letters, digits, and spaces. However, the third guidelines advices that names cannot contain periods(. Lastly, the same name cannot be used for two different fields within the same table. Some recommendations for determining data types for the fields are also provided.
