CS110 Chapter Notes - Chapter 6: Positron Emission Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Vector Graphics
Document Summary
Image processing plays an important role in computer vision in terms of pre-processing the captured signals (digital analogous counterpart to the images in the real world) so as to aid further analysis. One important application of image processing is manifested in the commercial image editor (i. e. photoshop or microsoft paint applications), whereby any image could be blurred, sharpened, warped, scaled up or scaled down. In image processing, the digital signals of image are applied with different filters to achieve those effects. Moreover, gradient of image is computed to determine the boundary in image so that the target object (i. e. face silhouette or ball) could be traced. This is vital in video tracking technology whereby given a sequence of images captured by a camera the robotic hand is able to predict the location of target and catch it. Sometimes, the image signals are blurred to reduce the noise.
