Textbook: chapter 9 social psychology as a science. Pavel semonov look closely at env and try to org unknown in meaningful way as scientists; reorganize known environment to create something new as artists. C: we use both in psych and both require different tasks. We are scientists when we take the unknown and organize it into something meaningful, but we become artists when we take that and reorganize it to create something new. We are unaware of why we act in certain ways. Conduct on underlying phenomenon not on instantiation of phenomenon. C: we don"t understand why we behave in specific ways so we often need experiments to test and find out the reason. Dependent variable response/result that depends on the experimental condit. C: we need to take the chaos of the real world and move it into laboratory which often has little resemblance to the real-world. The main diff b/w experimental and nonexperimental approach.
