Behavioral scienist- a scholar who applies the scieniic method to describe, predict, and explain recurring forms of human behavior. Rhetorician- a scholar who studies the ways in which symbolic forms can be used to idenify with people, or to persuade them toward a certain point of view. Interpreive approach- the linguisic work of assigning meaning or value to communicaive texts; assumes that muliple meanings or truths are possible. Objecive approach- the assumpion that truth is singular and is accessible through unbiased sensory observaion; commited to uncovering cause-and-efect relaionships. Humanisic scholarship- study of what it"s like to be another person in a speciic ime and place; assumes there are few important panhuman similariies. Epistemology- the study of the origin, nature, method, and limits of knowledge. Determinism- the assumpion that behavior is caused by heredity and environment. Emancipaion- liberaion from any form of poliical, economic, racial, religious, or sexual oppression; empowerment.
