Learning acquired through school, the media and reading. Primary: original reports of the observation or research. Secondary: sources that report but did not generate the research. Computer based retrieval system: electronic database that allows the researched to retrieve content from subscription periodical and other types if reference works and publications. Supporting speech material- should clarify a point someone is making in a speech or offer evidence in support of the argument being made. Characteristics of the most memorable information: simple, unexpected, concrete, credible, emotional, story based so the listener engages, specific instances: condensed examples that are used to clarify or prove a point. Exposition - gives listeners the background information so that they can understand the material being presented. Statistics - a collection of numerical information arranged as representations, trends, or theories. Internal summaries: short restatement of what has just been said in the section that you are about to leave.
