It was found that asthmatic children"s symptoms are exacerbated by allergens such as dust mites, cockroaches, fungi, cat and dog hair, and common environmental irritants such as tobacco smoke. It is suggested that poor-quality sleep might interfere with cognitive functions basic to many school tasks: children who slept more performed better on tests of sustained attention, processing speed, and inhibition.
