Tested: lower developmental thresholds and sums of effective temperatures. Lower developmental thresholds - temperatures at which development ceases. Sum of effective temperatures - number of days degrees above the lower developmental thresholds necessary to complete development. Invasive species have a higher lower developmental thresholds than those never recorded outside their native ranges. Results: many species are currently prevented from invading by low temperatures in some parts of the world. In china, over the second half of the 20th century, there has been an increase in the establishment rates of invasive insects which correlates positively with rising surface air temperature. Increase establishments explained by introduction and propagule pressure. Warmer temps favor establishment and spread of alien insects. Invasive species -known to have established self-sustaining populations outside its supported native range without being intentionally introduced by humans. Non invasive species- not know to have outside ranges. Paired species by same continent, genus, tribe, sub-family or family.
