COMM 2023 Chapter Notes - Chapter 17: Toubou People
Document Summary
There is a foundation of four main principles that a group must cooperate with in order to make good decisions in a group setting: problem analysis, goal setting, identification of alternatives and evaluation of positive and negative outcomes. The most effective fashion to go through the four standards is to decide what the group is trying to achieve, then to go through the steps. When working to identify the problem, the group must be solution oriented and know what they are trying to solve. If there is no goal, then any solution is not appropriately obtained, because they do not reach a desired end. For example, if a student group is petitioning their principle for changes in the dress code the desired end would be what changes they want to happen. For this scenario, the group decides what the problem is and what their desired goal is simultaneously.
