COMM 2023 Chapter Notes - Chapter 11: Relational Dialectics
Document Summary
Relational dialectics looks at the different implications that can be had by two different views of the same perspectives. Politics is one of the best examples because it shows two different views on the same type of issue. Issues such as healthcare have the side where people believe it should be a universal right and the other perspective where people should provide it for themselves. A perspective like this, especially as different as it is, creates the difficult conversations within a relationship. Relational dialectics address the past and the present, often struggling for the different perspectives to take root over the other. Issues the are divergent allow for a relationship to find the depth it needs to be maintained or it forces a separation of the relationship that is irreparable.
