People use multiple cues to send emotional messages. Communicators have a wide array of strategies in their disposal for communicating emotion. Several emotions re inherently interactive & typically shared through interpersonal communication, especially nonverbal communication. People who exude happiness are viewed as more attractive & popular, making the communication of happiness a rewarding experience for most people. Although pride has internal components, people often engage in proud nonverbal displays & share their pride w/ significant others. Communicating pride probably has a central role in self - esteem development. It is a ways of interactively receiving recognition for one"s accomplishments. Sometimes individuals disclose anger in a nonthreatening manner in order to talk about problems. Some angry cues are likely to be leaded despite attempts to suppress them. Motor - mimicry displaces function to communicate danger quickly & effectively. Ex: wincing in reaction to another person"s pain.
