Document Summary

Photosynthesis generates oxygen and organic molecules that are used by the mitochondria of eukaryotes as fuel for cellular respiration. Respiration breaks this fuel down, generating atp. The waste products of this type of respiration, co2 and h2o, are the raw materials for photosynthesis. Organic compounds + oxygen co2 + h2o + energy. Carbohydrates, fats, and protein molecules from food can all be processed and consumed as fuel. Fermentation is a type of catabolic process that is a partial degradation of sugars or other organic fuel that occurs without the use of oxygen (anaerobic). Cellular respiration includes both aerobic and anaerobic processes, but often referred to as the aerobic process. This is also a catabolic process, but it uses oxygen to break down sources of energy. A redox reaction is the transfer of one or more electrons from one reactant to another.
