Scales of measurement: nominal scale-numbers assigned to categories, ordinal scale-numbers rank-ordered. Interval scale-equal interval between numbers: ratio scale-numbers expressed as ratios. Summarizes a set of numbers: can include mean, median, mode, range, standard deviation, and variance. Statistics- procedures that summarize and analyze quantitative data. These indicate how often each score is obtained. There are many different shapes the frequency can be graphed. Bimodal-two bumps: outlier scores-scored that are very high or very low cared to the other scores.
